In the last week of Term 3, the students of Tangara School gathered online for a virtual induction of the Student Leadership Team for 2022.
Seeing the girls pledge their commitment to build a School community marked by the values of Faith, Hope, Charity, Justice, Wisdom, Fortitude and Temperance was a proud moment for all the staff and students.
Our guest speaker, wife and mother of six, ACT Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party for the Murrumbidgee Electorate, Shadow minister for Health and Multicultural Affairs, Ms Guilia Jones, highlighted what she sees as the most fundamental principles of leadership: sacrifice, service and living by personal example. She urged the new leaders to be grateful for all they have been given by giving in return and being of service each day and thinking “how can I do more, rather than how can I do less”.
The ceremony was also an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our outgoing leaders for their contribution over the past year. In her final speech as 2021 School Captain, Elizabeth F. thanked all the students gathered and emphasised how the Class of 2021’s motto: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”, has helped demonstrate that working as part of a team provides strength and unity, essential ingredients for happiness and success.
