As we navigate through this demanding academic time of the year, our emphasis shifts towards concluding it on a positive note, focusing on gratitude: appreciation for our teachers, mentors, classmates, and especially our dedicated parents. Reflecting on the support, guidance, and assistance we receive from those around us, it's clear that each of us benefits greatly from such a supportive and caring community where we aim to help each other to become the best versions of ourselves. In an era where gratitude is sometimes overlooked, it's crucial to recognise its significance. In alignment with the strong spiritual theme of Advent, as we prepare for the forthcoming Christmas Season, let us strive to 'finish well' with a sense of gratitude. Our attention should be on expressing thanks to God for the many blessings each of us has received throughout the year.
We conducted our Prep and Kindergarten readiness days last week, and this week marks the Primary and Secondary Orientation Day for new students, along with Information Sessions for new families. We eagerly anticipate the arrival of our new families who will be joining Tangara in 2024. Though we have limited enrolment places, your recommendations are always appreciated and most welcome.
Last week was marked by two very important milestones for our Year 6 and Year 12 students and their families. It was an absolute pleasure celebrating with the graduating class of 2023 last Thursday evening at their Formal. The girls looked absolutely stunning and I must say the parents looked very glamorous too. Thank you to our dedicated Class Parents, Paul and Ruth Stoodley, Sussi and Sekhar Pillai and Josette and Tom Daher for organising such a memorable and special event. Their commitment to fostering unity, friendship and care for each of our Year 12 families is a hallmark of our school and we are grateful for their sacrifices over the years.
Equally enjoyable was the Year 6 Graduationlast Friday evening. It was a beautiful night celebrating the end of our girl's Primary years. We are grateful to our highly committed and dedicated Primary staff, led by Mrs Dineen who have provided these girls with a solid educational foundation and the environment to help them grow and thrive in their faith and character development. Thank you also to our Year 6 Class Parents, Mary and Thomas Flynn and Patricia and Denis Mulkeen. Their commitment to creating a sense of belonging and unity amongst the Year 6 families and students will be invaluable as the girls enter the next exciting phase of their educational journey at Tangara. We look forward to seeing the Year 6 parents and their daughters at the Year 7 Information Evening tonight at 7.30pm in the McArthur Hall.
Last Thursday, our Year 10students engaged in a Day of Reflectionat Mary Mount Castle Hill. This served as a valuable opportunity for our girls to step away from their usual routines and contemplate their personal goals, as well as their connection with God and each other. Special thanks to Fr Paul Muller and Miss Sunner for organising the day, and to the staff who accompanied the girls and facilitated the various activities. We look forward to extending this reflective day to Years 7-9 in 2024. Our Year 10 students prepare to commence theirCommunity Serviceprogram next week and their Work Experienceprogram the following week. We extend our best wishes as they commence these enriching experiences.
Anticipating a range of academic and co-curricular engagements, we are excited about the upcoming opportunities and events in the next two weeks. We look forward to celebrating our students' achievements and showcasing their talents at the Infants Christmas Concertfor Years P-2 on Monday 4 December 1.30pm at Tangara. Additionally, the Presentation Eveningfor Years 3-12 is scheduled for Wednesday 6 December, at 7:30 pm at the Concourse Chatswood. Looking forward to celebrating with all our families!

"Last Rust and Navy issue, we talked about sanctifying tiredness. I would like to expand the topic and reflect on a virtue which becomes very relevant at this time of the year. I am referring to patience. Patience is a human virtue that enables us to persevere in the good, enduring tiredness, apparent failure or different kinds of obstacles. For a Christian, the virtue of patience is elevated by supernatural hope: Jesus enlarges our vision and makes us aware that we are walking towards the fullness of his friendship here on earth and afterwards in heaven.
I would like to bring about a quote about patience from a Spanish spiritual author:
"The road to holiness is a long one to travel, it occupies the whole of life and requires an active disposition, because there are great difficulties in achieving goodness of heart in all our actions and in always doing good.
The Gospel shows us Jesus patient with the defects of his disciples, with his lack of understanding, with his setbacks and errors. We see that He has time.
He is not impatient with a lack of love: he always forgives, he does not give up on anyone, he trusts in everyone's capacity to repent and return to friendship with him: Saint Matthew –citing Sacred Scripture– wrote of him: he will not break the bruised reed, will not quench the wick that still smokes."
At the end of the academic year, let us ask the Lord Jesus to enlarge our patience through supernatural hope. So that we can be comforted by the patience of the Lord with our defects and wrongdoings. And, as we experience the Lord's patience with us, we can show patience with ourselves and patience with the others."

A Busy Time In Infants!
A Busy Time In Infants!

It’s been a busy time in Infants as we enter the last few weeks of school for 2023.
We have hosted the Kindergarten and Prep Readiness Days and the children have had the opportunity to ‘Step Up’ to the next grade.
Our current Prep children had a wonderful time when they spent the morning in kindergarten. One prep student was overheard saying, “I’ve been waiting my whole life to be in Kindergarten”.
Kindergarten students also had an exciting experience when they ‘Stepped Up’ to year 1.
They loved being in the Year 1 classrooms and look forward to next year when they will be the leaders in infants.
Our Year 1 girls spent time in Junior School and had a taste of life without the boys when they move campus next year.
The time finally arrived when Redfield College welcomed the Year 1 boys. Their time at Redfield did not disappoint as they experienced what life had to offer for 2024. One future Redfield student commented, “I’m a little nervous for next year as I’ll miss Tangara, but I don’t think I will ever get tired of all the grass and fields at Redfield “.

Sydney Zoo
Sydney Zoo
Last week Year 1 students visited Sydney Zoo as part of the Geography unit, 'Special Places'. It was a busy and engaging day for students, teachers, and parent volunteers who no doubt slept well that night.

GIVE Grow In Virtue Every day
GIVE Grow In Virtue Every day

The virtue we ahve been workin gon in the Junior School is Gratitude.
Definition:
Having gratitude means that you are thankful for the good things in your life. It is an attitude that seeks the good things in every situation and tries to see the silver lining around every cloud. Instead of going straight to negativity and panic, a thankful person focuses on the positives and manages to maintain a healthy perspective.
What does gratitude look like?
Gratitude on the most basic level means saying please and thank you to people. It is also not taking them for granted and realising that their effort makes our lives easiest.·
I am practicing gratitude when I:
· Appreciate my own abilities instead of envying others
· See difficulties as opportunities to learn
· Am receptive to gifts
· Appreciate the beauty of this Earth
· Count my blessings every day
Where does Gratitude fit?
Gratitude
Appreciation
Thankfulness
For older students:
😊Do the people in my life know I’m grateful to them?
😊How could focussing on gratitude impact my relationships this term?
😊 What am I thankful for today, this week or this month?

3 Rust
3 Rust
The girls have had a wonderful start to Term 4 in Year 3 Rust.
The Term started off with a fun excursion to watch ‘The Alphabet of Awesome Science’ show. Josie and Isabella M wrote about the experience afterwards:
Today Year 3 went on a bus to watch The Alphabet of Awesome Science. We went on a bus trip over the Harbour Bridge to the Sydney Seymour Centre in the city. The bus trip was fantabulous because we sang so many fun songs. The moment we arrived at our destination we ate morning tea and went to the toilet. When the staff called us in we rushed up the stairs and took a seat. At the show we met Professor Lexi Con and Professor Noel Edge. They showed us different science experiments and told us different words and their definitions. The show was full of experiments that exploded, fizzed and banged and it was an extraordinary show. Our favourite word was floccinaucinihilipilification which means “the action or habit of estimating as worthless.”. After the show, we all walked in groups across the road to play in the park while we were waiting for the bus to arrive. We thought that it was a fun experience for all. - Josie and Isabella M

World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day was celebrated earlier this week. It was a good reminder of the positive impact that kindness has on individuals, families and the world at large! It’s always touching to notice the small acts of kindness that happen in the playground each day. We continually remind the students to take care of each other and make good choices.
Welcome New Students
Next week we will welcome new students who will join the Primary grades in 2024. We know that our current girls will give them a big, happy Tangara welcome.
Gratitude
In the Junior School we have been working on the virtue of Gratitude. As we near the end of the year I encourage you to remind the girls to thank their teachers, admin staff and chaplains for all the care and attention they have given to all students throughout the year.
Guess Who?
Competition is rife in the Namoi Building with a Guess Who competition raging. Many of the teachers have provided photographs of themselves as children and both students and staff alike have been trying to match the faces to the names!
Lost Property
Once again, we have a huge amount of lost property that has accumulated over the term. Please ask your children to look through the basket and claim their belongings. Once again, it is so much easier to return property when it is correctly, clearly labeled.

Tangara Study Trip to France and Italy
Tangara Study Trip to France and Italy
Tangara Study Trip to France and Italy The Languages, History and Art Departments are delighted to announce a long-awaited opportunity for your daughters. With the help of Angas Travel, we have put together a very exciting study tour of France and Italy for September-October 2024. The tour is designed to appeal primarily to all students of French, Art and History who will be in Years 9 and 10 in 2024. We anticipate a strong response to the trip; numbers are limited, and it is a wonderful opportunity for your daughters to immerse themselves in different cultures. One focus of the tour is to provide the opportunity for students of French to improve and apply their knowledge of the language in an authentic setting and to sample the culture. They will be staying at the CMEF which is a French language centre on the Côte d’Azur in the South of France after enjoying jam packed itinerary in Paris. From an historical perspective, emphasis is placed on walking in the footsteps of the Romans, understanding their legacy and visiting some of the most celebrated Roman sites in the second week of the trip. The students will visit WW1 Somme battlefields in Northern France and gain an overview of the major contribution of the ANZAC troops to the Somme offensive. Our stay in Rome, heart of the Church, will also provide the opportunity to discover significant Christian sites such as Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, as well as to attend a papal audience. Before leaving Rome, the tour will make its way to Florence, capital of the Tuscany home to the iconic Duomo cathedral and the world-renowned Uffizi gallery. The trip will take place during the October school holiday 2024, from Thursday 26 September to Thursday 10 October. The cost of the trip will be $7,650 (including travel insurance) and includes airfares, accommodation, tuition, transport, visits, and two meals per day. A trip itinerary and additional information will be provided at the information evening on Tuesday 21 November, at 7pm in the Library Seminar Room. I very much look forward to seeing you there.

REAL -There is Freedom in Forgiveness
REAL -There is Freedom in Forgiveness
As part of our REAL program, we were honoured to welcome Mr and Mrs Abdallah to our school. Danny and Leila shared their remarkable journey about 'The Power of Forgiveness'.
In the wake of an unimaginable tragedy that took the lives of their three children, Antony, Angelina and Sienna, they founded the i4Give Foundation and i4Give Day, grounded on the idea that forgiveness is a gift to the forgiver as much as to the forgiven.
The impact of words was a central theme. Danny likened forgiveness to a muscle and the sacrament of Confession to the gym. Their story illustrated the incredible power of forgiveness in their own family's healing.
Their story also sheds light on the driver who tragically took the lives of their three children. Forgiveness touched his heart and set him on a spiritual journey towards faith and conversion.
Leila provided insight into the 'why' and 'how' of forgiveness. She reminded us that life is too short to hold bitterness in our hearts. Their unwavering faith, boundless hope, and overwhelming love taught us that forgiveness has the power to heal, transform, and bring light even in the darkest of times. Leila showed us that there is freedom in forgiveness.
At Tangara, the REAL program (Real Excellence and Attitude for Life) explores the science of character, fostering a love for an authentic, 'real' character. We are extremely proud to offer this to our students and believe that it is what sets us apart, covering modules like internet ethics and safety, friendships, resilience, emotional intelligence, and leadership.
