Thank you and Merry Christmas!
As the 2024 school year comes to a close, we reflect on another remarkable year of learning and growth at Tangara, inspired by our motto, “Ad Summam Virtutem” - helping every child strive for academic and personal excellence. Thank you to our Tangara family for your ongoing dedication and support throughout this year.
Our Infants Christmas Concert and Presentation Evenings last week were a wonderful culmination of the year. These events showcased the incredible talent of our students in singing, dancing, acting, and music, while also celebrating the achievements of our award recipients. A heartfelt thank you to all our staff who worked tirelessly to make these events such a success and for your dedication throughout 2024.
As we enter the Christmas season, we are reminded of the simplicity of the baby Jesus, born not in grandeur but in a humble stable. His life speaks to us about what truly matters, encouraging us to embrace simplicity - a virtue that reflects sincerity, humility, and truth. In a world often consumed by materialism and superficiality, the simplicity of Christ inspires us to live authentically, love deeply, and seek harmony in our relationships.
St. Josemaria reminds us: “If you want to be great, become little. To be little, you have to believe as children believe, to love as children love, to abandon yourself as children do...” May we carry this spirit into our lives as we celebrate Christmas.
To our wonderful staff, students, and families, thank you for your exceptional contributions this year. I wish you God’s blessings for a joyous and peaceful Christmas. May the break bring you rest, health, and happiness, and I look forward to welcoming you back in 2025.
Message from Madame Davis (1984-2024)
After 40 remarkable years at Tangara, Madame Davis reflects on her experiences and expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the school community. Her words capture the spirit of dedication and camaraderie that define Tangara.
It has been a privilege to be part of such a very special school community. Apart from my many roles as French Teacher, Religion Teacher , the Infants Coordinator, the most rewarding part of my time here has been Mentoring. I will cherish the time spent with my Mentees and their parents.
My gratitude is extended to all the Staff Members with whom I had the privilege to work with over forty years. Our remarkable Principals Mrs Twyford, Miss Pintado, Dr Gibson, Dr George, yourself Mrs Sakr, and our dedicated Chaplains. A heartfelt thank you to the Admin Staff, past and current ones. All of them were and are always ready to help. Thank you all Teaching Staff for being very supportive. Last but not least to the Mentors with whom I shared this valuable experience and are very special to me.
Mrs Sakr, be assured of my continued support and prayers. I wish the Tangara Community all the best for the future. May the "High School Musical" production be a great success! I can't wait to come and enjoy it!
I wish everyone a Holy and Happy Christmas.
God bless.

We are getting ready for Christmas. It is a great time of the year. We rest, we enjoy longer holidays, we strengthen our roots: family, friends and faith. It is important not to lose sight of why we celebrate Christmas: Jesus, God with us, comes in the form of a baby so that we understand better that He is Love. That is why we celebrate exchanging gifts, enjoying special meals and making merry.
It is very useful to have at home a physical reminder of this truth: a nativity scene. As Pope Francis explains:
"Dear brothers and sisters, I would like to invite every man and woman to the stable of Bethlehem to adore the Son of God made man. May each one of us draw near to the Nativity scene in our homes or in church or in another place, and try to make an act of adoration, within [ourselves]: “I believe you are God, that this baby is God. Please, grant me the grace of humility to be able to understand”.
The nativity scene can play an important role during Christmas. Firstly, when setting it up. It can be a good occasion for a fun family activity: all the family (according to the age of the kids) helps in designing and making the scene, while some Christmas carols can be played on Spotify out loud and end the whole operation with a special lunch or dinner.
Also, maybe after a family breakfast, a short morning offering can be said in front of the nativity. Some days the rosary can be prayed and carols can be sung next to the nativity. Even Santa gifts can be placed at the foot of the nativity so that we realise that those gifts are a reminder of the great gift: Jesus is given to us freely.
And as we are wrapping up this 2024 academic year, from Tangara chaplaincy we wish you merry Christmas and in our daily Mass we will keep praying for our whole community: families, staff and students. Merry Christmas.

The final weeks in Infants have been filled with energy and excitement as we prepared for Christmas. The last two have been a joyful journey which has included a visit from Baby Jesus, elves on the shelves, Christmas concerts, Christmas Around the World and the Teddy Bears Picnic.
Visit from Baby Jesus
Visit from Baby Jesus
In preparation for Christmas and for the beginning of Advent, Fr. Paul brought Baby Jesus into each of the Kindergarten and Year 1 classrooms, allowing the children to cradle Jesus and take a moment to reflect and talk with him.

Elves on the Shelves
Elves on the Shelves
Our classrooms were visited by the delightful Elves on the Shelves. These little helpers made appearances in each of the Kindergarten and Year 1 classes, keeping a watchful eye on the children. Their presence reminded us all to continue being kind and thoughtful members of our school family.

Infants Christmas Concert
Infants Christmas Concert
Our Christmas concerts were filled with love and joy. The children in Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 presented "The Donkey's Christmas," a performance that warmed hearts and shared the story of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Prep children also performed beautifully, sharing their enthusiasm with the songs they have learned and showcasing their talents with musical instruments.

Christmas Around the World
Christmas Around the World
Our final days of school proved to be exceptionally adventurous as our Kindergarten and Year 1 students, with luggage bags packed, passports and boarding passes ready, embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime Christmas around the world. Kindergarten visited Sweden, Mexico, Italy, and France. Year 1 explored Ethiopia, Spain, England, and Germany. Our jetsetters even made special stops at the North Pole, where they prepared reindeer food, and they also had the opportunity to visit Bethlehem at our very own Chapel.

Teddy Bears Picnic
Teddy Bears Picnic
Nominated students were invited to the Term 4 Teddy Bears Picnic as a reward for their effort and best behaviour. It was a wonderful way to recognise and celebrate their hard work and positive attitudes.

As the academic year concludes, I want to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, gifts and lovely messages for me during my surgery and recovery. It meant so much to me and my family during this time. We are truly blessed to be part of such a caring and thoughtful school community.
I wish you all a beautiful Christmas with your families and look forward to beginning the 2025 academic year together.

As the school year draws to a close, we reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding year. Our teachers have once again worked tirelessly to implement the new 3–6 English and Mathematics syllabus, while the girls thrived in STEM activities facilitated by SAMMAT Education. Among many noteworthy accomplishments were the outstanding results achieved by our Maths Olympiad Team. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and growth, and we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating their successes together at the Presentation Evening.
Year 6 Graduation
Year 6 Graduation
What a magical way to celebrate our Year 6 graduation!
On Friday, 22 November, Year 6 celebrated their graduation at The Epping Club, after a beautiful Mass in the school chapel. It was a wonderful experience and a great culmination of the last 7 to 8 exciting years in primary and infants.

Primary Art
Primary Art
It was a short term but we packed a lot in.
Year 3 learnt about abstract art with a case study on Wassily Kandinsky. They listened to different styles and genres of music and responded in paint: sounds translated to shapes and emotions into colour. They finished the year with some lovely stain-glassed nativities and glittery Christmas trees.
Year 4 created watercolour self-portraits based on the work of Freida Khalo and finished the term with some symmetrical Gothic Cathedrals with stained glass windows.
Year 5 learnt the skill of 1-point perspective with some very creative aquariums.
Year 6 did a case study on Matisse, looking at basic anatomical proportions and bold colour. They then went on to advanced drawing skills using a grid, with some incredible drawings of eagles.
It was another fabulously creative year.
Wishing you all a blessed Christmas.
Mrs Denahy

Year 4 Religion
Year 4 Religion
We finished off our 2024 school year by making Christmas cards for the homeless.
It was a great way to share our Christmas joy with those who need it the most.
Have a Merry Christmas with your families.

Year 7 and 9 surf education program
Year 7 and 9 surf education program

On 2 December 2024, our Year 7 and 9 students traded their desks for the sandy shores of Dee Why beach. This annual excursion offers an incredible opportunity for students to develop essential water safety skills while appreciating the stunning beauty of part of our coastline.
Guided by experienced surf instructors and lifesavers, students learned to identify rips, determine the safest places to swim, and practice safe water entry and exit techniques. They also mastered survival skills like treading water and floating.
The highlight of the day was hitting the waves, with many students trying their hand at surfing for the first time. For some, it was an opportunity to refine their skills, while others delighted in catching their very first wave. The laughter, smiles, and sheer joy on display made it clear that everyone had a fantastic time. Teachers and instructors praised the students' enthusiasm and positive attitudes.
This surf education excursion not only equips our students with invaluable life skills but also encourages a love for the ocean, promotes physical activity, and highlights the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
A heartfelt thank you to the following staff who assisted me in making this day possible: Mrs Benson, Mrs Milostic, Miss Sammut, Mrs Hill, Mrs De Kock, Mrs Park, Mrs Elley, Miss Elias, Mrs Ozer and Mrs Woo.
