On the 28th of November, a number of Year 9 students had the opportunity to compete in the Ethics Olympiad, a day filled with fast thinking, deep discussions, and plenty of teamwork.
This event challenged us to explore complex moral situations ranging from the use of AI in the classroom to the morality of bullfighting. We communicated and discussed our ideas with a number of other schools whilst staying respectful and open-minded. It was intense at times as it required us to listen actively and test our improvisation skills which made it exciting and genuinely fun.
After weeks of lunchtime practices and debates, our team was proud to receive Most Improved Team and an Honourable Mention . Everyone representing our school did an amazing job, and it was great to see all our preparation pay off.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Lazaris and Ms Abboud for organising and running our training sessions, whilst encouraging us to think more deeply. Overall the competition was both an amazing and fulfilling experience, and one we would highly recommend joining next year.
