Last Thursday, we were blessed to have our Eucharistic Procession led by the Bishop of the Parramatta Diocese, Bishop Vincent Long. In his reflection, he reminded us that the Eucharist nourishes us with Christ’s love so that we, in turn, may love and serve one another. He encouraged us to allow this love to shape our daily lives, guiding how we speak, act, and relate to those around us.
It has been another rich and engaging couple of weeks at Tangara, marked by many opportunities for students to grow in character, friendship, and personal excellence.
Growth in Character through Music
Music continues to play a significant role in the life of our school, and today we look forward to our Junior and Secondary School Musical Recitals. Participation in music fosters discipline, perseverance, collaboration, and the courage to perform - qualities that are central to character formation. Through their involvement, students learn to strive for excellence, support one another, and develop confidence and resilience. Music is one of many co-curricular opportunities at Tangara that contributes to the holistic development of each student. We thank our Music Department, led by Mr Joel Richardson, our students for their dedication and creativity, and our parents for their ongoing support of their daughters’ growth in music.
Formation, Friendship and Reflection
Our students in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a Friendship Day recently, strengthening relationships and reflecting on the importance of kindness, respect and inclusion. Students in Years 7-10 participated in Reflection Days, taking time
from
their usual routines to be still and nurture their personal growth in faith and character.
Celebrating Sport and the Performing Arts
We also congratulate our Hills Zone netball team on their impressive win, a wonderful achievement that reflects teamwork and commitment. Whilst intense at certain times, it was a pleasure watching them play their final game. Our youngest students brought great energy and joy to their recent Infants Sport Day, and there was plenty of enthusiasm at the final of Tangara’s Got Talent, with students confidently sharing their creativity and gifts.
The Path to Holiness in Ordinary Life
The month of June also brings to mind St Josemaría, whose feast day we will celebrate on Friday 26 June with a whole-school Mass, followed by an international food festival and a range of fun activities. In the lead-up, we will enjoy “Spirit Week”, with simple and fun activities each day to build anticipation and community spirit.
Families are warmly invited to celebrate this special occasion more broadly at Holy Mass in honour of St Josemaría at 7.30pm on Friday 26 June at St Mary’s Cathedral.
St Josemaría, often described as the “saint of ordinary life”, reminded us that holiness is found in the everyday - through doing small things with love, care and a spirit of service. This message resonates deeply with our life at Tangara, where the daily work of learning, relating, and growing becomes a path to forming strong character and living with purpose.
